The weekly love list returns after a few weeks off. Sometimes you just need to take a break. But I am back now, bringing you my favourites over the last few weeks. I would love to hear if you try any of my favourites, so leave a comment at the bottom if there’s anything you love as much as I do.

sachajuan leave in conditioner

I feel as though I have been on a hair journey for most of my life. I have fine to medium hair, but there’s a lot of it. Because of it’s texture, it means that it is very susceptible to the effects of humidity, and is often frizzy, knotty and uncontrollable, if not not heat styled. It can be a bit of a nightmare. Since I got my hair cut earlier this year, I have switched out a lot of my old products for a new roster of superstars. The first of those superstars is the Sachajuan Leave In Conditioner.

This bottle of magic is a light, oil-free leave-in conditioner that makes styling easy. It is designed especially for thinner hair types, but can be used by everyone. It is vegan and cruelty free, and free of parabens. I use this leave in conditioner straight after I get out of the shower, after washing my hair. I towel off most of the water, and spray pretty liberally all over my wet hair. It keeps my hair feeling smooth and frizz free without being weighed down, even without any blow drying or straightening.

Sachajuan is a Swedish haircare brand started by internationally renowned hairdressers Sacha Mitic and Juan Rosenlind in 1997. Their approach to haircare is minimalism and simplicity, by reducing superfluous products, ingredients, and routines. Effortless and uncomplicated styling is something I can really get behind.

Look, this product is expensive. At $54 a bottle, it’s pretty pricey, but when you find something that works, you go with what works.

homemade peri peri sauce

I am a fan of hot sauces, but I have never really experienced proper peri peri sauce. I’ve been to Nandos in my life, but there’s not a store near me, so it’s not something I eat a lot. So I thought I would try and make one myself. So thanks for a recipe from Pretty Delicious, I made a batch using their recipe.

To be honest, I don’t know if this is what real peri peri sauce tastes like. But this does taste good. Acidic, herbaceous. The perfect companion to any savoury meal needing a little kick. I have used it as a marinade for roast chicken, I have been putting it on my poached eggs, you could probably even use this as a dip. This recipe makes about 500ml of sauce, and can be left in the fridge for up to three weeks.

You can find the recipe here.

feud: capote vs the swans

I am not overly familiar with the world of Ryan Murphy, the creator of TV shows like Glee, American Horror Story, and Pose. None of what he made really appealed to me, but the dramatised retelling of one of New York high society’s biggest fall outs sounded intriguing.

Feud is about the relationship between acclaimed American writer Truman Capote and a group of women he affectionately called his Swans. The Swans were a group of New York socialites from the 1960’s, whom Capote surrounded himself with. The women who throw the parties everyone wanted to attend, the lunches everyone wanted to be seen at, and Capote’s ticket to his next big novel. The Swans included Babe Palley (Naomi Watts), Slim Keith (Diane Lane), C.Z Guest (Chloe Sevigny), Lee Raziwell (Calista Flockhart), Ann Woodward (Demi Moore) and Joanne Carson (Molly Ringwald), all women of mighty social standing and influence. A quick search on Wikipedia prior to watching will set the scene.

After a crippling case of writer’s block that was sending Capote into the depths of severe alcoholism, it is suggested that he write about the salacious lives of his Swans. The affairs, the murders and the money. All things the Swans had entrusted Capote with, was now the thinly veiled subject of his latest literary offering. And thus a feud began.

Beautiful sets, dazzling costuming, sparkling dialogue and fabulous stars. Feud is hard to turn away from for all the right reasons. It’s deliciously scandalous, very dramatic, but never over the top. A must watch if you like the sordid details of a scandal. At the moment, you can watch the first three episodes of Feud on Binge or Foxtel here in Australia.

atmos&here “Victoria” pants

The number of times these pants have featured in my Outfit of the Day should tell you how much I love these pants.

The Victoria pants from Atmos&Here are an affordable pair of smart work pants. I first came across these beauties back in 2019 and have bought these multiple times. The straight leg, cigarette design is flattering, and are a great fit for anyone, regardless of leg length. On the model, they hit mid shin, however, with my short legs, they hit at the ankle. The best thing is that they’re really comfortable, with a little bit of stretch in them. At the moment, these are available in the standard black and navy, but every now and then, Atmos&Here will release different colours in this style, having previously made these pants available in peach and stone.

These can be paired with a blouse, a t-shirt, or a singlet. They can be worn with sneakers or heels. Their versatility serves a capsule wardrobe perfectly, and can be easily taken from day to night. I will continue to buy and wear these for a long time to come.

You can buy these here.
